Twenty-one residents of Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district were taken on a tour of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh by the Army to educate them about rich historical, religious and cultural heritage of the country.

The capacity-building tour, 'Sair-e-Hind', was flagged off from Potha in Poonch district on Thursday, a defence spokesman said.

The residents will visit Ajmer, Jaipur and Agra in eight days.

The tour aims at giving exposure to the citizens to rich historical, religious and cultural heritage of the country and foster brotherhood, harmony and unity in diversity, he said.

The visitors will also meet and interact with Army officials in the areas they are visiting.
