Police today booked a 21-year-old man for allegedly raping a teenager at Rehali village in the district.
The 19-year-old girl's mother today filed a complaint that Surjit Singh committed the crime around three months ago, a police officer said.
Surjit, who used to visit the girl's house, got her engaged with his brother-in-law.
But around three months ago Surjit came to their house in the evening and raped the girl after spiking her drink, according to the complaint.
After a month of the incident, the girl's mother got her abortion done, police said.
A case of rape was registered against Surjit, the officer said, adding the accused has been absconding.
