22 persons were arrested today for alleged involvement in hurling of bombs between two groups at Bilipada in Odisha's Ganjam distrit in which four persons had been injured.
At least three houses were also damaged when rival groups hurled bombs at each other in the village. Several bombs were allegedly burst during the clash yesterday, police sources said.
Police also seized around 150 crude bombs and several bomb-making materials, including gun-powder and urea from the roof of a house during raids conducted in the village after the clash late at night, police said.
Two critically injured persons were undergoing treatment at the MKCG Medical College and Hospital here.
Police personnel in strength were deployed in the trouble-torn village, police said.
"The situation is under control. Police is keeping a watch," said SP (Ganjam) Ashish Kumar Singh.
More people are likely to be arrested for their involvement in the clash, the SP said. The village wore a deserted look as many people fled fearing police action, said sub-divisional police officer, Chhatrapur A Ch Pahi.
Previous enmity between two groups was stated to be the cause of the incident, the police added.
