22 mobile phones, 30 SIM cards seized from Muzaffarnagar jail

Twenty-two mobile phones, 30 SIM cards and 500 gram contraband charas have been seized at the district jail, police said today.

A raid was conducted following complaints about extortion calls being made by inmates, SSP K B Singh said.

The district authorities led by DM Nikhil Chand Chaturvedi seized 22 mobile phones, 30 SIM cards, 500 gram charas and a knife from the jail primises, Singh said.

Police are checking the recovered SIM cards which were allegedly used for making extortion calls.

A case has been registered against unknown person regarding this matter, they added.
