A case was today registered against 18 traffic police personnel and four policemen after an inquiry found them guilty of taking bribe and extorting money from vehicle owners in the city.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dharmendra Singh Yadav ordered registration of FIR against the 22 police personnel under Prevention of Corruption Act today.
According to a police communique, several complaints were received at the police headquarters by the district police chief about extortion of money by the policemen at various places.

An inquiry was set up under supervision of SP (crime) Ram Abhilash Tripathi.
During the probe it was found that a complainant who had visited Shahid Nagar police post in Sahibabad area for lodging a missing report was forced to pay bribe by a sub-inspector and three constables.
On the recommendation of the inquiry officer all the 22 policemen have been booked.
