22 scholars given 'certificate of honour' by President

Twenty two scholars of Sanskrit, Persian, Arabic and Pali were conferred with the 'certificate of honour' by President Pranab Mukherjee today.

The awards, which are given away on Independence Day, were bestowed on 16 Sanskrit scholars including one in the international category, two Arabic scholars, three Persian scholar and one Pali scholar, an official release said.

The distinction is given in recognition of substantial contribution of scholars in the field of Sanskrit, Persian, Arabic and Pali/Prakrit.

In addition, the President gave away 'Maharshi Badrayan Vyas Samman' to eight young scholars in Sanskrit, Persian, Arabic and Pali, the release said.
