Indian Coast Guard today said it had apprehended 22 Sri Lankan fishermen for allegedly fishing in Indian waters.
A total of four boats along with 22 crew were apprehended in "sea-air co-ordinated operation" on November 23 and 24 off Krishnapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.
"The four Sri Lankan fishing boats are being escorted to Chennai for handing over to police," a Coast Guard release said, adding the force had been maintaining continuous vigil all along the Eastern seaboard to monitor "suspicious activities.
