Showing exemplary courage, a 22-year-old college student chased two bike-borne persons who allegedly snatched her gold chain, and caught them with the help of other people, police said today.
The two accused, Prince and Vishal, had snatched the gold chain of Baljit Kaur, near Ankhi Nagar last evening when she went to the local Sabzi mandi on Phagwara-Hoshiarpur road, they said.
The woman who was riding a scooter, ran into a stationary car while trying to resist their attempt and was injured, police said.
But undaunted, Baljit chased the duo on her two wheeler and raised alarm following which the public gathered there. With their help she caught the two accused and handed them over to police, they said.
Local MLA and CPS Som Parkash, Corporation Mayor Arun Khosla and SGPC member Sarwan Singh Kular visited Baljit at the Civil hospital and applauded her valour.
Som Parkash said that she will be honoured for her bravery so that other girls get motivated.
