Pakistani security forces today arrested 23 people and seized a huge quantity of arms and ammunition, including Chinese-made rifles, during a crackdown on "anti-state elements" in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The Frontier Corps launched operation in Michni area, 35 kilometers west of provincial capital Peshawar, as part of enhancing security measures, its spokesman said.
He said the seized arms included 170 SMGs with 4,974 rounds, 251 shotguns, nine Chinese-made rifles, eleven repeater shotguns, 161 pistols, 78 rifles of 12 bore, five hand-grenades and hundreds of cartridges.
