: A total of 23foreign nationals has been identified for overstayinghere during an operation conducted by the city police.
The operation carried out with officials comprising from different wings of the police along with FRRO (Foreigners Regional Registration Office)officials was conducted as part of a verification process on foreigners overstaying, or staying without documents or those staying after expiry of their valid period of stay, Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said.
Over 70 foreigners were examined and out of them 23 of them were found overstaying in the city and among those identified were from Somalia, Sudan, Yemen and Kenya, the commissioner said.
As per rules now they have to go for regularisation of overstay with a penalty and if they fail to follow the rules such foreigners would be detained under Indian Passports Act and later deported, police added.
