At least 23 shops were reduced to ashes in a devastating fire at Tezu market in Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh.
All goods and items in the shops were burnt in the mishap which occurred in the wee hour yesterday, a delayed official release said here today.
Civil police, IRBN, fire tender, Army, BRTF, ITBP and civilians together extinguished the fire before it could spread to nearby market areas and shops.
No casualty has been reported and the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
Deputy commissioner Tamiyo Tatak has ordered a judicial probe into the case and has directed the district disaster management officer to assess the loss and damages of the properties, the release added.
