A 23-year-old man allegedly killed his cousin, who brought him up from childhood, and then reportedly committed suicide by jumping into a well near here after she complained to her husband about his misbehaving with her when she was alone, police today said.
Police said the man was brought up by the 39-year-old woman, a school teacher. He had allegedly tried to misbehave with her a few days ago.
He threatened to kill her if she told anyone but the woman complained to her husband who reprimanded the man.
Enraged, the man allegedly hit the woman with a pestle when she was alone at home last night and fled, police said.
The woman, who was injured, died on the way to hospital.
Police who were searching for him found his body in a well in a farm this morning. Police suspect that he could have committed suicide fearing police action.
A case has been registered.
