23pc posts of teachers lying vacant in KVS schools

Nearly 23 per cent posts of teachers, from primary to secondary level, are lying vacant in 1,100 central schools situated in various parts of the country, a RTI reply has revealed.

The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sanghthan (KVS) said that as on March 31, 9,749 posts are lying vacant in these schools.

It was informed that 42,640 posts from primary to higher secondary level have been sanctioned in central schools.

Against it, at present there are 32,891 teachers, while 9,749 posts are lying vacant, which means 23 per cent posts are vacant, it said.

KVS further informed that out of the total sanctioned posts of 14,946 primary teachers (PRT), only 11,322 teachers were working leaving a gap of 3,624 vacancies.
 

Against the sanctioned post of 17,298-Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT), 13,269 are filled while rest 4,029 are vacant.

Similarly, against the sanctioned post of 10,396 Post Graduate Teachers (PGT), 8,300 are filled while 2,096 are lying vacant, revealed the RTI reply.
