Altogether 24 contestants have filed their nomination papers so far for the third phase of the Lok Sabha polls in Assam scheduled on April 24 in five constituencies, election office sources said today.
Twelve candidates submitted their nomination papers, including three in Gauhati constituency, one in Mangaldoi, two each in Barpeta, Nawgong, Kokrajhar and Dhubri seats, they said.
The last date for filing nominations is Saturday (April 5), scrutiny of nomination on April 7 and withdrawal of candidature is April 9, sources said.
Assam will have a three-phase polling for 14 Lok Sabha seats on April 7, 12 and 24.
