24 people airlifted as heavy rain lash parts of Rajasthan

Indian Air Force today airlifted 24 people as heavy rains lashed the eastern parts of Rajasthan causing a flood-like situation.

People were rescued from seven locations in Baran and nearby region by an IAF helicopter.

"Several villagers were sitting dangerously on tree tops amidst gushing waters waiting for help. MI 17 V5 helicopter airborne from air force station in Phalodi conducted rescue operation and 24 people were rescued," defence spokesperson Lt Col Manish Ojha said.

Extremely heavy rains occurred at isolated places in Kota division while heavy rains lashed few places in Kota, Udaipur, Bharatpur divisions and light to moderate rains occurred at many other places, according to the Met department.
 

Manohar Thana in Jhalawar recorded 31 cm rain while Chipabarod and Chhabra in Baran received 25 and 20 cm rain respectively.

Several other places recorded below 20 cm rains.

Chittorgarh received 62 mm rain, Jodhpur 6.8 mm and Kota receivied 3.4 mm rain.

The Met department has issued warning for heavy to very rainfall for isolated places in east Rajasthan tomorrow.
