The transport department has received 244 calls from people enquiring about the fancy licence numbers it is offering for four wheelers.
Officials said that as Sharad, considered as inauspicious time for buying anything, has now ended, people will now apply for fancy numbers in large numbers.
Altogether 244 calls had been received by the transport department enquiring about the fancy numbers in various categories, an official said.
According to the department, four demand drafts, which are related to reserve price for these fancy numbers, were were received on September 22 for - 0009, 0019, 0100, 0111, 0700, 0777, 2000, 4444, 5000, 7000, 8000, 8888, 9000.
Apart from that, two demand drafts was yesterday received for fancy numbers - 0005, 0009, 0023, 0077, 0099, 0100, 0111, 0300, 0444, 0500, 0555, 0700, 0777, 0786, 1111, 3000, 3333, 5555, 7777, 9999.
"Similarly, two demand drafts were today received for '0009, 0777, 0999, 2222, 3333, 4444, 5555, 6666, 8888'," he added.
Registration number 0001 is the most expensive with the minimum reserve price fixed at Rs 5 lakh. Numbers from 0002 to 0009 are the second most expensive, starting at Rs 3 lakh.
The third category will include numbers from 0010 to 0099; 0786, 1000, 1111, 7777 and 999, for which bids will start at Rs 2 lakh.
