A 24x7 medical inspection centre has been opened at the civil airport here.

A team of doctors and nurses will remain present round the clock at the facility to attend to any emergency.

Jodhpur MP Gajendra Singh Shekhawat inaugurated the facility yesterday. He said the medical facility was in line with the proposed expansion of the civil airport.

Opened under an agreement between the Airport Authority of India and Medipulse Hospital of Jodhpur, this facility will provide all types of emergency services with required life-saving medicines and equipment.

Airport director S K Singh said that earlier doctors were made available on call basis.

"But the need of a fully-equipped medical centre, with 24x7 availability of doctors and nurses, was increasingly felt. This initiative would now help us providing instant medical aid to any passenger or even the staff member, in case of requirement," said Singh.

According to Medipulse Hospital Director Navneet Agarwal, a fully-equipped ambulance would also be made available at the airport round the clock.

"Besides this, we would also arrange air-ambulance to airlift any patient in serious condition, if need arises," said Agarwal.
