Twenty five fishermen have been arrested by Sri Lankan naval personnel off Katchathivu islet and Neergolumbu for allegedly crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line.
The fishermen were part of a large group which put out to sea from this coastal town and Mandapam. They were intercepted at around midnight last night by the island nation's naval personnel who came in four boats, 'Q' branch inspector Kennedy said here today.
The naval personnel also seized their six boats.
They reportedly threatened all the fishermen against fishing in that area, damaged some boats, cut fishing nets and threw them into the sea, he said.
