25 sovereigns of gold jewellery stolen from Judge's house

: About 25 sovereigns of gold jewellery was stolen from the house of a city civil court Judge here, police said today.

"This appears to be the handiwork of some known persons. A case of theft has been registered and we will soon apprehend the culprit," Police Assistant Commissioner, Egmore, B Kalitheerthan said.

He said J Justin David, Additional Judge, City Civil Courts (Fast Track Court) was away in his native place in Kanyakumari District when the theft took place.

Last night, his neighbour, TADA Court Judge Arumugam, noticed the door to the Judge's house broken open and alerted police, who rushed to the spot and found the bureau ransacked and about 25 sovereigns of gold jewellery missing.
 

Fingerprint experts were pressed into service and lifted some prints from the scene.

The Judges Quarters is adjacent to Egmore Metropolitan Magistrate Courts Complex and close to the State CB-CID headquarters and about 1.5 km from the office of the Commissioner of Police.
