A 25-year-old youth has been arrested in south-west Delhi's Naraina Vihar area for allegedly making extortion calls to a doctor who was his one- time employer, police said.
According to police, the accused has been identified as Nazre Alam, a resident of the Sonia Gandhi Camp area in Naraina.
Alam allegedly used to send SMSes to the doctor demanding money. The mobile phone that he was using to send the alleged threat messages has also been seized, said RA Sanjeev, DCP of south west district police.

Dr Arvind Gupta, a resident of Naraina Vihar who owns a hospital, complained to police that he was receiving SMSes demanding a payment of Rs 10 lakh. The extortionist was threatening to kill his son if the money was not paid, he said in his complaint.
A case was registered by police at Naraina police station on the doctor's complaint yesterday, the DCP said, adding that they thereafter traced down Alam.
During interrogation, the accused admitted to targeting doctors and businessmen for extorting money. Police said he had similarly tried to extort money from another doctor and a businessman. Alam was unemployed for the past four months, added the officer.
