At least 200 cows and 50 goats died in Bathan village of Sualkuchi area in the last two days from the unknown disease, triggering panic among the cattle owners, the sources said.

The animals have severe bouts of shivering before they die, the sources said, quoting the local people.

A veterinary team from the district headquarters has rushed there. The vets are of the opinion that the cattle may have consumed poisoned foliage during the floods.
