2542 protected persons in JK: Home Department

As many as 4074 security personnel are providing security to 2542 persons in Jammu and Kashmir, the state Home Department has said.

"Altogether 4074 security personnel are protecting 2542 persons in the form of personal security," it said.

This information was given by the security headquarters of the Jammu and Kashmir Police in reply to an RTI query.

As many as 732 vehicles are deployed for protected persons as part of the mobile security cover, the Home Department said.

An amount of Rs 5,54,88,966 has been incurred on account of fuel for vehicles deployed for protected persons in 2012, it said.
 

An amount of Rs 24,01,46,747 has been incurred on account of salaries of security personnel deployed for protected persons, the Home Department said.

Security cover is provided to families of protected persons on the basis of threat perception, it said.
