256 jawans join SSB

A total of 256 jawans today

joined border guarding force SSB after their passing-out parade ceremony in Jalpaiguri in West Bengal.

The newly-commissioned troops will be posted along the border along Indian frontiers of Nepal and Bhutan.

Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) is a 50,000 personnel strong force which, apart from guarding the border, is involved in anti-Naxal operations and for rendering other law and order duties.

The troops have undergone an eleven-month training in weapons handling, unarmed combat, border management and human rights subjects after their induction into the force.

SSB Inspector General (Siliguri frontier) Kuldiep Singh took the salute from the passing out contingent at the forces' training academy at Falakata in Jalpaiguri.
