Senior IPS officer Sadanand Date, who was injured in the gun battle with Pakistani terrorists Ajmal Kasab and Abu Ismail during the 26/11 attacks, has approached a local court seeking getting back his uniform which has been in custody of the trial court as evidence.

"Date has filed an application and it is likely to come up for hearing later this month," public prosecutor Mohan Sawant said.

Date, the then Additional Commissioner of police, was seriously injured in the exchange of fire with the terrorists outside Cama Hospital in South Mumbai.

While Ismail was gunned down by police, Kasab, who was captured alive, was executed in Pune's Yerawada jail last year.

Date's uniform was produced as evidence during the 26/11 trial and has been in the custody of the court since then.

Date is currently Joint Commissioner of Police.
