26 villagers taken ill after having food in AP

Twenty six tribals were taken ill after eating "substandard" food in Guraja village of Krishna district, an official said today.

Twenty six people were yesterday admitted to the Guraja Primary Health Centre (PHC), after they complained of vomiting, upset stomach and developed diarrhoea symptoms. At present, all patients are out of danger," Y Padmavathi, Additional District Medical & Health Officer, said.

The patients had eaten substandard food and drunk well water, she said, adding the samples of the food and water consumed were sent to forensic laboratory.

Senior district officials today visited the hospital and enquired about their health, she said.
 

Only three patients were receiving treatment today, she said, adding all others were discharged from the hospital, she said.
