A 26-year-old woman has alleged that she was raped by a man on the pretext of marriage at a village here after he befriended her on a social media site a year ago, police said today.
The victim lodged a police complaint yesterday, following which a case has been registered against the man, they said, adding the woman has been sent for medical examination.
The complainant has said they became friends on a social media site a year ago. She alleged that the accused had promised to marry her, but later refused, the police said.
She has claimed that the man also threatened her, they said.
