26-yr-old arrested in murder case

The Delhi Police today claimed to have solved the 10-day old Shastri Park murder case with the arrest of a 26-year-old man.

The accused has been identified as Arshad Mohammed, resident of New Seelampur.

Arshad is accused of gunning down Javed Ali on April 13 at EDMC parking zone in Shastri Park area falling under the jurisdiction of New Usmanpur police station.

"During interrogation Arshad disclosed he is a close friend of Zakir who had taken EDMC parking on sub-lease. There was an old enmity between Javed and Zakir.

"On the night of incident, Arshad was present where an argument between Zakir and Javed, who had reached the place along with his friends, took place on account of old enmity. On seeing this, he also intervened and Zakir and Arshad shot at Javed from their respective country made pistols and fled from the spot. The victim was later announced dead in hospital," police said.
 

The police said a case has been filed under section 302 of IPC and 25 and 27 of Arms Act.
