A special court today sentenced a 26-year-old man to life imprisonment for burning a hotel owner to death in the city a year ago.
The prosecution case was that Prabhu was working in a hotel run by Kannan in the city.
Kannan admonished Prabhu for coming drunk and asked him not to come for work.
Enraged over the incident, Prabhu went to his house on the night of February seven last year, poured petrol on Kannan and set him ablaze
Kannan was admitted to the government hospital with serious burns and was admitted to the government hospital at Theni, where he died on February 27.
Special court judge Gunasekharan today sentenced Prabhu to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 on him.
