A NRI delegation of 27 youths from various countries led by S S Channy, Principal Secretary, Cultural and NRI Affairs Punjab, today called on Governor Shivraj Patil under the 'Know India Programme' here.
Interacting with the youths, Patil said this initiative of the Centre would provide them with a unique forum to know the rich cultural values of India, enabling them to share views and bond closely with contemporary India and the progress made by the country in various fields.
He said, the programme would educate them on different facets of Indian life by witnessing vast cultural and religious diversity of the country.

Giving a brief description regarding the visit, Channy said the 25th 'Know India Programme' was arranged by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs in collaboration with Punjab, aimed at creating awareness among youths of Indian origin residing in other countries, about the phenomenal transformations taking place in India.
About the places they visited and liked in Punjab, the students said they visited Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Anandpur Sahib and liked the Golden Temple, Railway Coach Factory and the Retreat Ceremony at Wagha Border in Amritsar.
