27-year-old man kills self by jumping before train in Punjab

A 27-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a moving train near here, the Railway Police said today.

The local Government Railway Police (GRP) Post Incharge, Assistant-Sub Inspector Gurbhej Singh, identified the deceased as Surinder Kumar Sonu of the Santokhpura Mohalla area here.

Sonu's body was found on the railway tracks near the Chak Hakeem village here yesterday, Singh said.

"Though no suicide note was found from near the body. A suicide note purported to have been left by Sonu at his house was today handed over to us by his family. In that note, Sonu stated that he worked as a driver and his employer allegedly thrashed him and snatched his mobile phone, licence and cash, which drove him to the extreme step," the GRP official said.
 

A case was registered and further investigations were on, Singh said, adding that the allegations in the suicide note would be looked into after verifying its authenticity.

He said that the body was handed over to the family after postmortem.
