"Out of 3,325 IPS officers, immovable property returns for the year 2011 from 3,055 IPS officers have been received and IPRs from 270 IPS officers, as on August 16, 2012, have not been received by the Ministry of Home Affairs," Minister of State for Home Affairs Jitendra Singh told Lok Sabha in a written reply.
As per rules, the officers have to submit returns of immovable property within a month of their appointment and subsequently in Januay every year.
According to Department of Personnel and Training, vigilance clearance may be denied to an officer of All India Service if he fails to submit IPR in time.
