Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Nimmakayala China Rajappa Thursday said 270 centres to procure paddy directly from farmers would be opened in East Godavari district.

He said this while inaugurating the centres in Navara village in Samalkota mandal here.

The Deputy Chief Minister further said paddy would be purchased by the centres for kharif season directly by paying the minimum support price to the farmers; the payment would be made to the accounts within three days.

He requested the farmers to make use of the facility by avoiding middlemen.

Deputy chairman of the State legislature council Subrahmanyam Reddy, speaking on the occasion, said the government was committed to the welfare of farmers.
