28 BSF men airlifted from flash floods along IB in Samba

Due to heavy rains in Jammu region, Taranah, Devik, Ujah rivers are in spate Samba-Kathua sector and have inundated several low lying areas

Indian Air Force today rescued 28 Border Security Force personnel trapped in flash floods on Border Out Posts along International Border in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir and airlifted them to safety.

As many as 28 Jawans of BSF were trapped in Border Out Posts due to flash floods in Basantar river triggered by heavy rains in forward areas of IB in Ramgarh sector of Samba district today, a Defence spokesman said.

On the request of the BSF IG, IAF pressed into service a chopper and 28 BSF personnel were rescued in several sorties, he said adding the arms and ammunition was also brought out safety during the operations.
