28 fire incidents in Jammu as scorching heat grips region

As torrid heat wave gripped Jammu with mercury soaring to 44.5 degrees Celsius today, 28 fire incidents were reported from various parts of the region.

Owing to severe heat wave conditions, 28 fire incidents from reported in the Jammu region since this morning, said an official of the Fire and Emergency Service Department.

However, there was no loss of life, he said adding close to 30 fire incidents had been reported everyday during the past one week in the region.

A fire had broken out in the Tourist Reception Centre in Pahalgam resort in Anantnag district in Kashmir yesterday but there were no casualties.
 

Heat wave swept across the city which experienced the season's hottest day with mercury shooting to 44.5 degrees.
