"This year we are expecting nearly 30 lakh tourists," GTDC's Assistant Manager Bharat Chodankar said on the sidelines of a tourism exhibition here.

During the past few years, Goa has seen an influx of tourists, including many from Punjab and Chandigarh, and the numbers are rising, he said.

"People from many areas prefer various packages that we offer including tours of south and north Goa covering famous tourist spots like old Goa churches, Colva, Miramar, Calangute and Anjuna beaches, Dona Paula bay and ancient temples.

"There are packages for nature lovers too and they can visit the Bondla wildlife sanctuary while dolphin tricks are favourite among kids. Plus, there are special festive cruise packages and backwater thrills on offer suiting every budget," the Assistant Manager said.

The Tourism Department is targeting 10 lakh tourists during the Goa Carnival to be held from February 9 to 12 this year, he said.

"We also have a sea food festival from February 8 to 12. For both these events we have heavy bookings. Almost all hotel accomodations are sold out," Bharat said.
