As many as 28 police officers of Maharashtra cadre have been promoted to the Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre, Home Minister R R Patil said here today.
"We have received a notification from the central government in this regard today," the minister told PTI.
The promotions are as per the power conferred by the IPS recruitment rules.
Those promoted include Mumbai DCPs D R Karale and Nisar Tamboli.
