A 28-year-old social worker and an IIMC graduate allegedly hanged herself to death here, police said today.

Anshu Sachdeva, resident of Sector-3C, NIT Faridabad was found hanging from the ventilator of her room yesterday, they said.

The woman had come back from office on Friday night and retired to her room. However, when her mother woke at about 3 am, she found some liquid coming out of the victim's room, police said.

The mother, on opening the door found her daughter hanging from the ventilator by her own dupatta, they added.

Sachdeva was a graduate from Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) and was working as an education leader with STIR Education (Schools and Teachers Innovating for Results), an NGO in Delhi.

A case has been registered with SGM Nagar police station here following the complaint by Manoj Sachdeva, father of the victim

Manoj Sachdeva informed the police that his daughter's marriage was fixed with her friend and former class fellow Himanshu Singh.

After initial resistance from both the families, the couple got engaged on 28th March, police said.

The victim's family has accused Singh of forcing their daughter to take the extreme step, they said.

However, Singh denied talking to the victim on Friday and said that he received many missed calls from Sachdeva, adding that he could not pick up the call as he was taking a shower.

Singh said that the last message he received from Sachdeva read 'I am going'.

No suicide note has been found from the victim's room, police said, adding that investigation is on.
