A 28-year-old youth shot himself with his father's licensed revolver at his home in central Delhi's Jhandewalan area this evening, police said.
"In the incident which took place at around 4:30 P.M., Vaibhav Bedi shot himself in the head. He is battling for life at a city hospital and doctors will be performing an operation on him," said a senior police official.
The family members of the youth were present in the house when he shot himself, police said, adding that the reason behind him taking the extreme step is yet to be ascertained as he is not in a condition at the moment to give a statement.
A case in this regard has been registered at Nabi Karim police station. The family members of the youth will be questioned tomorrow, police said.
Vaibhav's father, Jagmohan Bedi, owns a rexine shop in Jhandewalan. While the shop is located on the ground floor, the family lives on the first floor of the building.
