A 28-year-old woman was allegedly strangled to death with the chord of a mobile charger by her brother-in-law today in the Adarsh Nagar area of north-west Delhi.

The deceased has been identified as one Zeenat with the accused said to be her brother-in-law Vikas, police said, adding that the incident took place when the victim's husband Ajit had gone to the factory where he works.

"Vikas often got into arguments with Zeenat as he wanted to marry her younger sister, which she was opposed to," police said.

According to police, at around 10:30 A.M. A fresh argument broke out between the duo following which Vikas first beat Zeenat and then strangled her with the cord of a mobile charger.

The commotion between Zeenat and Vikas prompted some neighbour to make a PCR call following which police reached the spot. Vikas was arrested with a case of murder having been registered against him at Adarsh Nagar police station.

Police said the body has been sent for an autopsy with further inquiries on into the case.
