As many as 29 candidates have filed their nomination papers from the Gautam Buddha Nagar Lok Sabha constituency.
"Total 29 candidates have filed nominations from Gautam Buddha Nagar seat. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on March 24, and the date of withdrawal is March 26. Polling is scheduled for April 10," assistant returning officer Bachu Singh said today after the filing of nominations ended.
Major contenders from the seat are BJP's Mahesh Sharma, Narinder Singh Bhati of Samajwadi Party, Satish Awana of BSP and Ramesh Chand Tomar of Congress. KP Singh for AAP has added suspense and speculation to the major parties.

On the last day of filling of nominations, 16 candidates have filed their papers. Out of total 29 candidates, 12 are from unrecognised parties and 12 Independents.
Meanwhile, police have taken preventive action and launched special drives to ensure peaceful polling in the constituency.
Police have so far seized 87 country-made pistols and got 3469 licenced arms deposited and have cancelled eight arm licences. As many as 11,675 persons were challaned under 107/116 CrPc. A total of 168 non-bailable warrants have been executed, 15,965 litre liquor seized.
For violation of the Model Code of Conduct two cases have been registered and two persons arrested at Jarcha and Jewar.
