Jammu and Kashmir Government today said 29 people had died, 30 were injured and 15,712 buildings were damaged due to heavy rains and flash-floods in Jammu region in 2013.
As many as 15,712 buildings, including 14,411 houses, were damaged due to heavy rains and flash-floods in 2013, Minister of state for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Aijaz Ahmed Khan said in a written reply to the question of JSM member Ashwani Kumar in the Assembly today.
Of the total damaged buildings were 1,205 cattle sheds, 96 commercial establishments and institutions, the Minister said adding 116 livestock, cattle also perished in the flash-floods.
He further added that 48,619 kanals of land was also damage in the flash-floods. An amount of Rs 25,61,550 had been provided to the affected families as a compensation.
