Another 29 people have been found ineligible under National Food Security Act-2013 in three blocks of Odisha's Ganjam district.

District Collector P Ch Choudhary today asked the block development officers in Bhanjanagara, Ganjam and Rangeilunda to lodge FIR against the ineligible persons who obtained new ration cards under NFSA, officials said.

Earlier, the district administration had identified around 235 ineligible persons who availed benefits under the NFSA.

The Police have also registered cases against these persons in different police stations. At least four women were arrested in Bhanjangara (2) and Gangapur(2), they said.

The district Collector has also asked the BDOs to collect prices of foodgrains at the market rate with ten per cent interest from the ineligible persons who had already taken the foodgrains under the NFSA by violating provisions of the Act.

"The drive to identify ineligible persons who already obtained new ration cards by violating the provisions will continue. Legal action will be taken against them," the officials said.
