2nd year engineering student commits suicide in Noida

A second year engineering student studying at a private institute allegedly committed suicide at a hostel here, the police said today.

The student, identified as Rupanshu, allegedly committed suicide at his hostel last night by hanging himself from the ceiling fan, Sector 58 police station in-charge Anil Pratap Singh said.

He was a student of a private college and was living outside the campus in a private hostel in Bishanpura village here.

"Other hostel inmates informed police after which a police team reached the hostel and pulled the body down. The body has been sent for post-mortem," Singh said.

The deceased was from Bareilly.
 

The cause of the alleged suicide was being probed, police said.

Initial investigation revealed that he had not given his semester examination.

His roommate was visiting his hometown and was not in the room at the time of the incident.
