3.2 per cent growth in foreign tourist arrivals

Incredible India campaign attracted 9.13 lakh foreign tourists in December 2015 as compared to 8.85 lakh during the same period previous year, a growth of 3.2 per cent.

Foreign exchange earnings from tourism during December 2015 were Rs 13,253 crore as against Rs 12,988 crore in December 2014, a growth of 2 per cent.

There were total 80.16 lakh foreign tourists during the period January-December 2015 as against 76.79 lakh for the corresponding period year before, a growth of 4.4 per cent, according to Tourism Ministry data.

According to the data, the maximum number of tourists came from the US (18.67 per cent), followed by Bangladesh (11.64 pc), the UK (11.60 pc), Australia (5.25 pc), Canada (4.23 pc) and Russia (3.68 pc).
 

Foreign exchange earnings during January-December 2015 were Rs 1,26,211 crore as compared to Rs 1,23,320 crore a year before, a growth of 2.3 per cent.
