Three ancient 'ashtadhatu' idols were stolen from a temple in Basudharpah village here, police said today.

"Thieves broke the lock of the historical temple and fled with the idols of Ram, Laxman and Janki. Each weighed 25 kilograms," Deputy SP, Suresh Chand Rawat said.

The idols were around 125-years-old, Rawat said, adding that a case has been registered and investigations are on.

The three idols were worth crores of rupees in the international market and made from a combination of eight metals, including gold and silver.
