Three staffers of the Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) here were arrested for allegedly possessing "unaccountable" cash worth Rs 57.73 lakhs, Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials said today.
Accountant Arvind Jain, clerk Digambar Chikhale and steno Vijay Nikam were trapped by sleuths of Nashik ACB unit yesterday at Panchavati locality here, Superintendent of Police, ACB Nashik, Daulat Jadhav said in a press note.
Acting on a tip off that the trio had withdrawn a hefty amount of Rs 57.73 lakhs from a local cooperative bank, a trap was laid and the "unaccountable" cash was recovered from their car. When quizzed about the huge sum, they could not give a satisfactory answer and were subsequently held.

The accused were produced before a local court yesterday which remanded them to ACB's custody till October 29, the release said.
The employees have been booked under relevant sections of the Anti Corruption Act.
