3 arrested for black-marketing of LPG cylinders

Police have arrested three persons and recovered 24 LPG cylinders here in a drive against black-marketing of the subsidised domestic gas in the city hotels, an official said today.

"Three persons were arrested and a total of 24 LPG cylinders were confiscated in the raids conducted across 54 restaurants and 10 sweet-shops," SDM city Avinash Singh said.

"Complaints were being received that restaurants, hotel and sweet-shops' owners are using domestic gas cylinders instead of commercial ones with collusion of gas agency owners," he said.

The team, constituted by district administration, had conducted the raid last evening, he said, adding Pradep Jain, owner of Raja Seth Hotel, Shri Shyam, the hotel's manager and Sunil Kumar, distributer of a gas agency were arrested in the connection.
 

A case has been registered under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, in the connection, Singh said.
