3 arrested for burglary of Rs 4.50 lakh at a shop in May

Police today claimed to have solved a burglary case in Budgam district of central Kashmir by arresting three persons and recovering the looted items worth Rs 4.50 lakh.

The accused had looted 160 mobile phones, 105 chargers, 150 earphones and 100 data cables of various brands from Beerwah market in May, a police spokesperson said.

An FIR was lodged following a complaint by the shop owner. During investigation, three suspects, Mohammad Ashraf Ganie and Mohammad Amin Ganie of Sedipora-Beerwah, and Mohammad Shaban Ganie of Utligam-Beerwah, were apprehended, the official said.

"During interrogation, they confessed to their crime," the spokesperson said, adding the stolen items worth Rs 4.50 lakh were also recovered.
 

Meanwhile, two persons have been arrested today for gambling and Rs 15,100 was seized during a raid in Shergari area of uptown Srinagar. The accused have been under Gambling Act, the spokesperson said.
