3 arrested for extortion in Rajasthan

Three persons, including two women, were arrested today for allegedly extorting money from a businessman after threatening to implicate him in a false rape charge.

The two women, Vandana Bhatt and Poonam Kanwar, who worked in massage parlour used to honey trap rich customers, and Mahesh Kumar Yadav threatened them to extort money, ADG of ATS and SOG Umesh Mishra said.

The three accused blackmailed a marble businessman and extorted Rs 10 lakh from him after threatening to lodged a rape case against him, the officer said.

The accused were arrested and during interrogation they confessed to extorting money in this manner in nearly half a dozen cases, Mishra said, adding they were produced before a local court which remanded them in police custody till February 13.
