3 arrested for fraudulent sale of 57 bighas agricultural land

Police have arrested three persons who had fraudulently sold 57 bighas of agricultural land of a farmer by planting a fake owner and pocketed Rs 6.5 crore.

DCP of Delhi Police's Economic Offence Wing B K Singh today said a complainant was lodged that agricultural land of Bharat Singh alias Bhartu, measuring 57 bigha and 6 biswa in Ghumanhera village, was fraudulently sold by a fake owner through two sale deeds on February 12, 2009.

The part of land measuring 11 bighas was sold to a resident of Panchsheel Enclave for a sum of Rs 1.21 crore while the remaining 46 bighas and 6 biswas was sold to a private firm for a sum of Rs. 5.11 crore and the mutation was also done in favor of the purchasers, Singh said.
 

During investigation, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) sleuths found that accused Khushi Ram, a resident of Rohtak, had sold the land by posing as original land owner Bharat Singh and co-accused Sunil Kumar Katyal was witness in the disputed documents including sale deeds, he said.

The accused Khushi Ram had executed a special power attorney in favour of another co-accused, Bhiwani (Haryana) resident Surender Singh Sangwan, who was also a witness in the sale deed executed by fake Bharat Singh in favour of the purchasers, the officer said.

The police arrested Surender Singh Sangwan who revealed that a resident of Jhajjar Satish Kumar who was a wrestler had planted fake owner of the land and later got it sold for Rs 6.5 crore.

Satish was arrested along with the co-accused Sunil Kumar by the police yesterday while efforts were on to nab the remaining accused who were at large, Singh added.
